Aluminium alloys combine high strength with low weight, natural corrosion resistance and excellent forming, machining and finishing behaviour. The range spans the pure 1000 series and the core grades 3003, 5052, 5754 and 6061 in plate, coil and embossed sheet. The metal conducts heat and electricity, forms without tearing, welds cleanly and can be anodized to a decorative protective surface. In photovoltaics it carries solar frames and mounting structures; in transport it forms vehicle bodies and components; in appliances it makes housings and heat-exchange parts; and in marine it supplies lightweight, seawater-resistant panels and structures. Predictable bending, forming and fastening properties make it a reliable engineering material.

5xxx work-hardens and welds well — the marine and transport default. 6xxx gains strength from heat treatment and machines cleanly. 2xxx gives the highest strength but sacrifices corrosion resistance, which is why it stays in aviation.
