The Mid-Autumn Festival fell on Friday, 25 September 2026, and Yuze Metal celebrated with the three-day national holiday from 25 to 27 September. Every member of the team received festival gift boxes as a thank-you for the year's work — and, as the season's busiest shipping window closes around the holiday, our thanks go just as much to the customers who planned their orders early.

The moon is full, and so is the packing list

Mid-Autumn is China's festival of reunion. Families gather, mooncakes change hands, and for one long weekend the office lights go dark on purpose. This year the official holiday ran Friday 25 September through Sunday 27 September, and our Wuxi office and warehouse teams took the break together.

Before the doors closed, the company distributed holiday gift boxes to every employee — mooncakes in the flavors the team actually argues about, plus festival benefits as a small acknowledgment of a demanding year. Some of our people are on their third year of record shipment volumes; the boxes are a modest return on that effort.

To our colleagues: 中秋快乐,阖家团圆 — happy Mid-Autumn, and time well spent with your families. You earn it.

Why the holiday matters to our customers, too

The festival is not just an internal event. It sits two workdays before the National Day holiday (1–7 October), which makes late September the single busiest shipping fortnight of the Chinese calendar. Mills push cargo, ports compress schedules, and every service centre in the country runs flat out.

We wrote a separate planning guide on how Golden Week affects steel lead times and shipping windows, but the short version for our regulars: orders confirmed before 30 September ship on normal lead time, and documentation is completed before the break wherever physically possible.

The practical lesson of every festival season: the supplier who tells you the cut-off dates early is the supplier who ships on time late.

The warehouse's last stretch before the break

Festival weeks are the hardest weeks in a warehouse, and ours was no exception. In the days before 25 September the yard ran at double pace: coils slit to length in the morning, packed by early afternoon, and on trucks before the evening shift change. The team rotated through lunch breaks so the loading bays never went dark, and the last container of the stretch left with its documents already stamped — the way we think a holiday should start.

To be fair about it: customers who responded to our cut-off notices made this possible. Orders confirmed in time get packed calmly, inspected properly and documented correctly. That cooperation is a bigger part of "on-time delivery" than any internal process, and it deserves the same thanks as the gift boxes did.

A festival worth explaining to overseas partners

For colleagues and customers outside China, a word on what Mid-Autumn actually is. Falling on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month — when the moon is at its roundest for the year — the festival centers on family reunion. People travel home, share mooncakes with whoever happens to be at the table, and children carry lanterns while grandparents tell the story of Chang'e, the woman who flew to the moon and now keeps watch from there.

Roundness is the theme: the full moon, the round mooncake, the round table. In business terms, the closest translation is completeness — things finished, promises kept, everyone accounted for. That spirit is worth borrowing for a supply chain newsletter: a complete shipment is a happy shipment, and an order whose documents arrive together is its own small reunion.

Some of the team spent the break travelling; most spent it eating. Both count as rest, and rest is what the break is for.

Quality does not take holidays

The same discipline that gets cargo out before a shutdown runs through the rest of the year. Every batch we ship — from 304 stainless steel cold rolled plate to 5052 aluminum alloy sheet — leaves with its mill test certificate, and the inspection routines behind that paperwork are audited under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system, as described in our certification overview.

Certificates and audits matter, but the people executing them matter more. The team loading containers on 24 September at full speed is the same team that will answer a claim email in November at full attention. Festivals are a good moment to say so publicly.

A note on the season ahead

After the double holiday, Chinese industry restarts in the week of 8 October and the Q4 export calendar runs at full pace from mid-October. For buyers planning year-end projects:

  1. Lock specifications now; confirm test-certificate and inspection requirements in writing.
  2. If your volume is seasonal, discuss pre-holiday (Chinese New Year, February 2027) scheduling with your account manager in November — that is the next big compression window.
  3. Keep the usual rule: two suppliers per critical grade, one of them with stock on the ground.
